Sy Scholfield quotes from "Antología del baile flamenco" by Manuel Ríos Vargas (Signatura Ediciones, 2002), p. 162: "Lola Flores María Dolores Flores Ruiz nace el día 21 de enero de 1923 en el número 45 de la jerezana calle Sol a las 12 horas...". The extract from the birth certificate is dated 5 February 1923 with a birthdate of 2 February 1923, no time given (a photo reproduction of the extract is published in "Lola Flores: el volcán y la brisa" [EDAF, 2007], p. 22), and according to this book was apparently registered late because of the parents' incapacity to meet the limit set by the law for the registration of birth ("como por descuido, desgana o imposibilidad habían superado el plazo fijado por la ley para la inscripción de los nacimientos," p. 20).
