English royal, the first child and eldest surviving daughter of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York, and Cecily Neville.Sy Scholfield quotes William Worcester's "Annales" (1728) reprinted in James Gairdner's 1898 "History of the Life and Reign of Richard the Third" (Reprinted by Greenwood Press, 1969), p. 4: "Anne, Duchess of Exeter, born at Fotheringhay on August 10, 1439, between five and six o'clock on a Tuesday morning." Gairdner adds on the same page that "August 10, 1439, was a Monday, so perhaps the 11th was intended." NB. William Worcestre (c. 1415 – c. 1482), was an English chronicler and antiquary.
