British royalty, the fourth son of King George III of the United Kingdom and the father of Queen Victoria. Recently he has been styled the "Father of the Canadian Crown."Sy Scholfield quotes "DOMESTIC INTELLIGENCE," The Royal Magazine, November 1767, p. 275: "Monday, November 2. This morning about half an hour past nine o'clock her majesty was taken in labour . . . and at half an hour past twelve her majesty was safely delivered of a prince." Scholfield also quotes "An Illustration of the Liturgy of the Church of England" by Thomas Pruen (Rivington, 1820), p. 163: "born November 2, 1767, at noon." Same data in "The Monthly Chronologer" in London Magazine, or, Gentleman's Monthly Intelligencer, November 1767, p. 592: "Monday, Nov. 2. The queen's palace, St. James's Park. This day about noon the queen was happily delivered of a prince."
