Vedic Horoscope for La Pérouse, Jean-François de
French Navy officer and explorer, appointed in 1785 by Louis XVI and his Minister of the Marine, the Marquis de Castries, to lead an expedition around the world. Lapérouse and his 220 men left Brest on 1 August 1785, and travelled to Easter Island, Hawaii, Alaska, California, Macau, Philippines, Korea, Japan, Russia, Samoa, Tonga, Norfolk Island, and Australia, arriving off Botany Bay (Sydney) on 24 January 1788. Lapérouse took the opportunity to send his journals, some charts and also some letters back to Europe with a British naval ship from the First Fleet—the Alexander. On 10 March 1788, he left for New Caledonia, Santa Cruz, the Solomons, the Louisiades, and the western and southern coasts of Australia. His expedition vanished in Oceania, and neither he, nor any of his men, were seen again.Didier Geslain archive, 'L' pdf file, p. 31.
