He died on 26 November 1891 in Berlin.Sy Scholfield quotes from the birth record transcribed in the German book "Briefe von und an Hegel, Volume 1; Volume 4" by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (Meiner Verlag, 1977), pp. 105-106: "Geburtsregister der Stadt Nürnberg. 1814; Nr: 500/89 Aeg.; Name des Kindes: Hegel, Thomas Immanuel Christian ... Zeit der Geburt: 25. Septbr. ab[ends] 6 Uhr." A footnote adds that "Abweichend hiervon gibt Immanuel Hegel in seiner Autobiographie (Erinnerungen aus meinem Leben. Berlin 1891) den 24. September als seinen Geburtstag an. Hegel selbst schreibt am 27. IX. an Niethammer (Br. 239): „Vorgestern, den ., ist mir ein Sohn geboren worden." Dazu hat schon Karl Hegel angemerkt, daß der Geburtstag seines Bruders „nachmals immer am 24. September in der Familie gefeiert" wurde. Vgl. dazu Hegels Gedenken am 24.
