German nobleman descended from the Kulmbach branch of the Franconian House of Hohenzollern founded by his father Georg Albrecht, the Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and Brandenburg-Ansbach. He was born after his father's death. By his morganatic marriage with Regine Magdalene Lutz, Georg Albrecht triggered the creation of a baronial family of Kotzau for his sons.
