Austrian Archduchess and Infanta of Castile, a member of the House of Habsburg by birth, who subsequently became Queen consort of Portugal (1518–1521) and of France (1530–1547) both by marriage. She also held the Duchy of Touraine (1547–1558) in dower. She is called "Leonor" in Spanish and Portuguese and "Eléonore" or "Aliénor" in French. She was named after her paternal great-grandmother, Eleanor of Portugal, Holy Roman Empress. Lorenzo el Real » ( Ms . que creo inédito , de dos hojas en folio , letra del siglo XVI , en la Biblioteca Nacional Mss. P. v., c. 5. núm. 16. 18.634) nació Doña Leonor « en Bruselas a 15 de noviembre 1498 , dia de San Eugenio entre las doze y la una de la noche nació esta señora » . También dice de la Emperatriz Doña Isabel la hora de nacimiento « en Lisboa a xxv de octubre miercoles a la media noche nació esta señora. Año de 1503."
