Vedic Horoscope for Brockes, Barthold Heinrich
German poet, librettist and translator. His poetic works were published in a series of nine volumes under the fantastic title Irdisches Vergnügen in Gott (1721–1748); he also translated Giambattista Marino's La Strage degli innocenti (1715), Alexander Pope's Essay on Man (1740) and James Thomson's The Seasons (1745). His libretto Der für die Sünden der Welt gemarterte und sterbende Jesus (1712), one of the first passion oratorios, proved quite popular. He died January 16, 1747.Sy Scholfield quotes "Barthold Hinrich Brockes" by Eckart Klessmann (Ellert & Richter, 2003), p. 13: "Aus dieser Ehe gingen fünf Kinder hervor: vier Töchter, von denen nur die 1681 geborene Anna Elisabeth das frühe Kindesalter überlebte, und Barthold Hinrich, der am 22. September 1680 zur Welt kam, einem Mittwoch; „ein wenig über ein Viertel nach 1 Uhr zu Mittage"."
