German publisher and patron of the arts. He co-founded the Fürstliche freie Zeichenschule Weimar with the painter Georg Melchior Kraus in 1776. He was the father of the writer and journalist Karl Bertuch. Bürger Sohn wurde gebohren den 30 Sept. 1747, Abends 6 Uhr, und den 2 Oct. von dem Hn. Diac. Beer mit dem Namen Friedrich Johann Justin getauft. Extrahiret, Weimar, den 6 Oct. 1815. g. Sander Stadtkirchner."
