Chiron Discovery
Solar System body, also known as 2060 Chiron or 95P/Chiron, which orbits the Sun between Saturn and Uranus. It was named after the centaur Chiron, a half-human, half-horse creature in Greek mythology. Discovered in 1977 by American astronomer Charles Kowal (1940-2011), it was the first-identified member of a new class of objects now known as centaurs--bodies orbiting between the asteroid belt and the Kuiper belt.Various astrologers give these data for the first sighting by Charles Kowall of the asteroid Chiron.
