Public Information

Spanish-born Sephardi Jewish astronomer, astrologer, mathematician, rabbi and historian who served as Royal Astronomer in the 15th century to King João II of Portugal. Notas para la historia de la Astronomia en la España medieval by F. Cantera Burgos, The Jewish Quarterly Review, New Series, Vol. 24, No. 1 (July 1933), p. 87: "PROFESSOR F. Cantera Burgos ... suggests that Zacuto was born not about 1450, as is usually stated, but at three o'clock in the afternoon of August 12, 1452."
