Fifth Mughal Emperor of India from 1628 to 1658. Born Prince Khurram, he was the son of Emperor Jahangir and his Hindu Rajput wife, Taj Bibi Bilqis Makani.Sy Scholfield quotes from The Shah Jahan nama of 'Inayat Khan: an abridged history of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, compiled by his royal librarian : the nineteenth-century manuscript translation of A.R. Fuller (British Library, add. 30,777) by 'Inayat Khan and Wayne Edison Begley (Oxford University Press, 1990), p. 4: "His Majesty's auspicious birth took place in the capital of Lahore, on the expiry of five hours and ten minutes of the night of Thursday, the last day of the month of Rabi' I 1000 (15 January 1592); but in accordance with the sighting of the moon, the first of the month of Rabi' II." The author writes that all dates in the book have been converted to New Style. Scholfield calculates sundown at 5:15pm plus 5h10m equals 10:25pm.
