Indian mystic of the Hindu religion who, after a mystical experience at age 17, left his parents to become an aesetic. The second of three sons of a farmer, he was raised in a religious family who gave ritual offerings and visited the temple. A disinterested student, Ramana was more concerned with seeking his own identity and meaning. When he slept, his sleep was so profound that nothing could wake him and his brothers teased him about being a sleeping figure from legend.On 4 July 2014 Sy Scholfield changed the Rodden Rating from C to B, quoting "Timeless in Time: Sri Ramana Maharshi" by A. R. Natarajan (World Wisdom Books, 2006), pp. 5+7: "on December 30, 1879 ... [at] the sacred village of Tiruchuzhi ... The procession of Bhuminatheswara was slowly returning to the temple at 1 a.m. The star in the constellation was Punarvasu, also considered to be special. It was at that time that Ramana was born."
