Irish writer, counsellor and spiritual director, former religious sister and retired physiotherapist. She is the author of several books and in 1979 she bought a cottage in County Wicklow and created Shekina Sculpture Garden, an artistic retreat over which the government took ownership in 1995.Sy Scholfield quotes from her autobiography, In Gratitude: The Story of a Gift-Filled Life by Catherine McCann (Orpen Press, 2015): "My mother recorded the following facts in my baby book. I was born at 3 a.m. on 21 June 1934 in the Leinster Nursing Home in Dublin. The doctor attending was Paul Carton and the nurse was Winifred Bruton."
