Public Information

German founder of homeopathy after six years of experimentation. He practised medicine illegally and, though he was unpaid, was subjected to hostility and persecution from 1789 to 1810. Sy Scholfield quotes Richard Haehl's book, "Samuel Hahnemann: his life and work" (B. Jain, 1922), p. 9: "I have ascertained from Hahnemann's own daughter that he, Hahnemann, was actually born on April 10th at approximately twelve o'clock midnight. For this reason he celebrated his birthday, until the eighty-ninth year of his life, on the 10th of April."
