Peru's worst earthquake killed 48 000 men. The whole coast was struck with the epicenter near Chimbote and Casma,magnitude 7,9.Several other cities were completely ruined.In Yungay the whole city disappeared under 10 m of mud - only a little bit of the cathedral was still to see;18000 inhabitants died.The velocity of the masses was nearly 200 km/h.In Ranrahirca 170 people were killed;this city had been concerned in 1962,when 4000 persons had died.
